Coolroe Solar Farm is a 5MW solar farm located at Ballyculane, Co. Wexford, Ireland. It is currently under construction and is part of EDF Renewables’ portfolio. Along with the Blusheens and Curraghmartin Solar Farms, Coolroe was one of the first projects completed following EDF Renewables’ acquisition of 100% of Wexford Solar in 2020. This acquisition included eight projects with over 100MW of capacity across the country. The Coolroe Solar Farm, spanning 27 acres, will contribute to powering approximately 2,000 homes in Ireland. Interestingly, the site also hosts grazing sheep, which help control vegetation growth, and collectively, these three solar farms will save over 9,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
